Welcome to Year 6!

Year 6 is made up of 30 mature and hard working children.

Our class teachers are Miss Choma and Mrs Harvey and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Mulholland.

So far in Year 6 we have enjoyed the extra responsibility that the year brings, where most of us have a job to help around school. Some of us are Young Leaders at lunchtime helping the lunchtime staff serve KS1 their food. As well as this, we have Sports Leaders, helping organise active games outside on the playground.

Spring Term

An exciting term ahead - our up and coming residential visit to Robinwood where we get paddle in the piranha pool and crawl through deep, dark caves! Lots of new experiences for us to try together. Miss Wilkinson and Mr Voller will be joining Y6 and Miss Choma.

The 'Bikeablity Team' are in school to teach Y6 how to ride their bikes safely on the road. This is a wonderful opportunity for all the children to take advantage of; they will learn important life skills from a team of experts as well as have fun. Bikes and helmets are provided if needed.

This is an important time when we begin our Lenten preparations - through daily prayer and scripture, our Lenten assemblies, our CAFOD Lunch and fund raising for the Good Shepherd. It is a time when we think of others and how the money we raise goes to help those less fortunate than us.

SPACE WEEK

We had an exciting Space Week where we made and launched rockets; wrote Space Poems; visited the planaterium to journey to the moon and see the stars; took part in a quiz; made models; calculated the mean, median. mode and range of different space crafts and drew scaled models of them. Phew! It was a busy week.

Autumn 2

Here is our new display ready for the first candle of Advent to be lit on Sunday. We have also made some Advent promises that we will be doing our best to keep over this festive period.

We have enjoyed our P.E. with Mr Adams from Inspiration Tree. Here we are playing netball using the skills we have learnt:

Year 6 & Reception buddies!

We finally had the chance to meet our buddies, here is a slideshow of our photographs with our new friends. We are really looking forward to meeting and working with them throughout the year.

In class we have already undergone a Maths Boot Camp, it was hard work but now we are so much more confident. As well as this, we have particularly enjoyed planning and delivering our own collective worship in class in small groups. At this early stage in the year, as always, we begin with looking at our class saint, St. Therese of Lisieux.

This photograph shows our art work and famous quotes of our class saint and how we follow in her footsteps today:'When people walk past me in school I greet them with a friendly hello''I like to help my Grandma with the shopping at the weekend'

Golden time

One of the biggest changes this year has been the introduction of Golden Time. It's fun to be rewarded for our hard work and listening all the time. Here are some photographs of our first afternoon:
